Welcome

*The icesea-cseasi programs in Indonesian language and Filipino language are now open for enrolment to students at all Canadian universities. Classes are run in-person and online simultaneously. Full details for the Filipino language program are available online here; for Indonesian, you can find information for enrolment here. Tuition is $620/semester (domestic) + visiting student fee ($80). But all tuition-paying students enrolled in the Indonesian and Filipino language classes are also eligible to apply for one $300 grant per semester to offset tuition and support their studies. Details on the grants will be circulated in the second week of each semester.

With generous support from the Henry Luce Foundation, the Canadian Southeast Asian Studies Initiative / Initiative canadienne pour l’étude du sud-est asiatique (CSEASI/ICESEA) is dedicated to building capacity in, and raising the profile of, Southeast Asian Studies in Canadian universities through support for pedagogy, graduate training, research and community outreach. Bringing together a consortium of 9 Canadian universities, working in concert with partners across Southeast Asia, CSEASI will breathe new life into this crucial field for researchers, students and communities across Canada, building collaborative and sustainable relationships with the region.
